Weekly Recap - The Good and the Bad

Confessions of a Frazzled Teacher

This week I was in an extra grumpy mood! I am glad it's over. I need this weekend to relax!

Update: If you are actually interested, I finally got a new car! Now I don't have to worry about how I will get to work!

My new car!

Absent Again - I had to miss school again on Monday in order to finalize the car situation. I was extremely unhappy when I went in on Tuesday to a classroom that looked like a bomb had gone off. 😡

No Air-Conditioning - This week also brought some warm, extra humid temperatures. Of course this was the week our classroom air conditioner decided to stop working. I also hate our windows. We got these beautiful new ones a couple years ago. They open in a way that doesn't allow the air to circulate. My room was a sauna. No wonder why I was so grumpy this week.

Student Message - Even though I was cranky about being absent and my room, I had the best student assignment to look forward to when I returned.

This message made me smile! I especially love my age!

Reading with Kindergartners - My students were super excited to go back to visit our Kindergarten buddies and read with them. This time I gave them a couple of days warning, because I knew many would want the time to make their own books to bring with. We will be doing activities with these buddies almost every week from now until the end of the school year. I am looking forward to this!

Notice the book they are reading - it's a third grade original story!

Teaching Time Tip - I saw this tip in a Facebook group that I am a part of and thought it was brilliant! When teaching time, add a pipe cleaner with a hook to show the hour. I used this week when reteaching a time worksheet. It was amazing how well it worked!
