Weekly Recap - The Good and the Bad

Confessions of a Frazzled Teacher

My students started summer school this week. I have a super small class and another teacher with me part of the day. It's incredible! We get so much done and the time flies by! If only the rest of the school year was like this!

Safety Drills - Don't get me wrong, I definitely know the importance of safety in school. What I do have a problem with are the TONS of drills we had this week. We had two fire drills, two tornado drills, and a lock down drill all of which lasted longer then the ones we have during the regular school year!

PD - I presented a PD this week and was glad it went well. I am glad it's over though!

My Class - I am loving my class this summer. With only seven students, we are able to get so much done! They are well behaved, hard-working, and sweet!

Baseball Math Facts (although it can be used for other subjects) - This has been our most popular game in math this week. To play, set up your class like a baseball diamond. I got my bases from the dollar store. Divide your students into two teams. Show them math fact cards. The person that gets the answer fastest moves to a base. As team members get questions correct, anyone from the team that's on a base gets to move to the next one. When a person makes it home, they score a run. It moves quickly and even though my class is small (they sometimes have to answer a question from their base), we have had a great time.
