Weekly Recap - The Good and the Bad

Confessions of a Frazzled Teacher

This week marked my last full week of Summer School. Next week is only a two day week! The end is near!

Testing - Because we are at the end of Summer School my district wanted to do testing to see how much the students learned over these past few weeks. For this, they decided to use NWEA testing. This meant about 3 hours of testing...during summer! Crazy!

Story Time from Space - We had family day today. Each teacher was tasked with an activity to do with families as students went room to room. In my room, we discussed astronauts and watched an astronaut read a story from the International Space Station. Everyone enjoyed this. It was fun to watch reactions of everyone at the end when the astronaut starting "floating through the air."

I Have, Who Has - This week's favorite game was a version of I Have, Who Has. For those of you that haven't tried it, a student reads their card like, "I have fox. Who has a word that rhymes with house." The next person would say, "I have mouse. Who has..." This works well for a full size classroom. Since our class is so small, we spread the cards out around the room. It was fun to hunt for the cards.
