Monday Book Club - Unshakeable Chapters 15 and 16

Confessions of a Frazzled Teacher

Have you heard the news? We are doing a book club this summer! Our Facebook Group voted on Unshakeable by Angela Watson.

(Disclaimer: Affiliate link below. Using it will not cost you anything, but will earn me a small commission.)

This week we are reading Chapters 15 and 16. These chapters focus on "motivating students to take charge of their learning" as well as "connecting with kids and gaining energy instead of letting them drain you."

Get your copy now! Our book discussion has officially started, but feel free to join in any time!

Below are the questions that are in our Facebook Group.

Chapter 15 Questions - Focusing on student ownership of the materials they need to know is the goal of this chapter. This can be done in a variety of ways. Some suggestions include turning over spelling word responsibility to students, creating personalized projects in the classroom, and using technology to meet students' needs.

Question 1 - Do you find that taking the time to turn the learning over to students is worth the effort? Why or why not?

Question 2 - What ways can you try motivating students to take charge of their own learning?

Chapter 16 Questions - If you have ever felt incredibly drained at the end of the school day, then this chapter is for you! There is a focus on connecting with students in various ways in order to make teaching an enjoyable experience.

Question 1 - How can you make connections with all of your students?

Question 2 - How do you acknowledge student birthdays?

There is no right or wrong answer. Please feel free to be candid about your responses. If you would like, answer them in the comments below or join our Facebook Group (click on the words or search Confessions of a Frazzled Teacher Book Club). The Facebook Group is a private, closed group (for those of you that want a more close knit group for the discussion). Either way you would like to participate, I hope to hear from you!
