Weekly Recap - The Good and the Bad

Confessions of a Frazzled Teacher

This week was a full week back...and boy was it a full week. In fact, it felt like 3 or 4 weeks long instead of the one!

Confessions of a Frazzled Teacher

Walking in the Hallways - It's like two steps forward, one step back with my students. During other times in the day, my students are getting better. Then they screw up in the hallway. We had to spend an afternoon practicing how to walk correctly in the hallway. REALLY...it's December?!?

Medical Issue #1 - One was the student that came to school sick. He threw up the first time before making it to my room. Then he proceeded to throw up in the office where he had to wait for three hours to get picked up! I felt so bad for the poor child.

Medical Issue #2 - I, along with a lot of the staff, signed up for a free health screening offered by our insurance. This was the first year this was offered. We got our blood drawn on Tuesday. By Wednesday, we all received our results. It was like we were all dead teacher walking! It's sad that we are all in such poor health. At least I offered a fellow third grade teacher a prayer vigil when he received a follow-up call from the testing company. We thought that a follow up call indicated you were closest to death!

Running in the Gym - This week we started another new strategy. Right before lunch, we use the gym and just run laps for 10 minutes. I am trying anything I can think of to get my students to calm down and actually get their work done. My favorite day running was yesterday. The dean came in and raced all my students. He is a HUGE guy and very FAST! I was shocked by how fast he was able to move. My students are loving this running time!

Hanukkah - This week we studied Hanukkah. My students were obsessed with finding out anything they could about this holiday. I'm glad it was such a hit!

How was your week?
What was good and bad for you?
