Weekly Recap - The Good and The Bad

Here's a quick recap of my week, starting with the Bad but ending with a positive note on the Good.

My Terrible, Horrible, No Good, Very Bad Day - Ironic that Monday was this day as we just finished reading the Alexander story of the same name!  It started off with my bag breaking at the foot of the stairs dumping EVERYTHING out! Then my reading lesson plans got completely thrown out because we got a last minute email stating we had to practice for the Hispanic Heritage Program. I hadn't gone through the song yet with my class...oops!  Had to review it quickly before 8:50.  My students were also crazy!  Basically, it was one thing after another. Rough start for the week!

If you haven't read this book, please do so! I love it! I also love using it for almost everything - character traits, theme, literary elements, etc.

1.  Hispanic Heritage Program - It was today and turned out great! I enjoyed it. I especially enjoyed that it did not drag on for hours!

2.  Classroom Work Display - I finally got my act together and got my final display set up outside my classroom (technically it was done earlier but I added the final touch this week).  I put laminated pieces of card stock up using TONS of blue sticky tack.  This is the only thing that sticks on the walls! I then took pics of all my students, cut them out and taped them on clothespins. Now I can quickly change up the work on the walls without having to worry that it will fall down.  It's almost impossible to get things to stick.  I can't show a pic because it has my students' faces visible. Sorry!  Hopefully you can visualize this!

The only thing that sticks to the walls!

3.  Bookshelf - Outside my door, I have all the books we have read so far up. I just typed a simple book spine template which allows me to type the titles/authors quickly.  Then I let my students color/cut them out.

Now, every time we leave the classroom, the students can remember the books we have read!

I hope you had a great week!  Enjoy the weekend! I am looking forward to Monday, because we are off for Columbus Day.

What are you looking forward to this weekend?
