Monday Summer Book Club - Unshakeable Chapters 5 and 6

Confessions of a Frazzled Teacher

Have you heard the news? We are doing a book club this summer! Our Facebook Group voted on Unshakeable by Angela Watson.

(Disclaimer: Affiliate link below. Using it will not cost you anything, but will earn me a small commission.)

This week we are reading Chapters 5 and 6. These chapters focus on "going the extra mile for families" as well as "learning to say'no' without guilt and make your 'yes' really count."

Get your copy now! Our book discussion has officially started, but feel free to join in any time!

Below are the questions that are in our Facebook Group.

Chapter 5 Questions - This chapter focuses on going the extra mile for families without sacrificing your own time or family. I'm not going to lie. This was intimidating for me. I always feel like I can and should do more for my students' families, but how?

Question 1 - How do you structure your first interaction with parents?

Question 2 - What types of ways to encourage families to participate in class? (These does not need to come from the book.)

Chapter 6 Questions - "Each time you say yes to one thing, you're choosing to say no to something else." I love this line! It has become a mantra for myself when taking on new tasks!

Question 1 - How are you able to say "No" to something, a committee, parental request, etc.?

Question 2 - What are some ways you need to work on saying "No" more in school? (We can help support each other in the comments!)

There is no right or wrong answer. Please feel free to be candid about your responses. If you would like, answer them in the comments below or join our Facebook Group (click on the words or search Confessions of a Frazzled Teacher Book Club). The Facebook Group is a private, closed group (for those of you that want a more close knit group for the discussion). Either way you would like to participate, I hope to hear from you!
