I must say, this week was definitely a turning point for my class. I know that I was much calmer. We still had some issues, but overall, it was a great week!
All School Programs - Today we had our Hispanic Heritage program. Our third grade team usually sings a song together for all programs. My frustration stems from an email we got giving times we had to go to the gym to practice. These times were in the middle of reading Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday. When we arrived each day, nothing was ready for us to practice. I was so angry, especially yesterday when no one came at our assigned time to handle the equipment. My students are too low to waste our valuable reading time!
STEM - Today we finished our mini unit on Columbus by making boats out of foil (Side Note - the dollar sells foil precut. It's perfect!). Then we measured how much cargo each boat could hold before sinking. I love seeing how engaged my students get when they work on a STEM project.
My favorite boat - a shark. Too bad it didn't hold much.
This type of boat was the only kind that was really able to hold a lot of cargo.
Indoor Recess - We had to have indoor recess a few days this week while work was being done on our playground. This meant 3 days of indoor recess. This was surprisingly a huge hit! My students especially loved playing with the cash register and doing puzzles.
How was your week?
What was good and bad for you?
