Weekly Recap - The Good and the Bad

Confessions of a Frazzled Teacher

This past week was a stressful one (see The Bad). At least it's over and the first quarter is officially done. Coming soon: Parent Teacher Conferences.

Confessions of a Frazzled Teacher

New Student, No Notice - It's bad enough getting a new student in the middle of the school year. It's worse when you pick up students in the morning and hear them tell you that we have a new student. I told them we didn't have a new student. 5 minutes later: We are in class and a new student is brought into the room! That totally threw off my day! All I ask for is a little notice, like the night before. Then I can actually get things together.

Yelled at by a Parent - This was totally not my fault! I have two students with the exact same first name and similar sounding last names. Apparently the mom of one called but the secretary thought it was the other. When hearing the message, I figured out the difference. Long story short, this led to an issue with the office mix-up and I got yelled at. This was the way my day with the new student ended.

Boo! - I love how social our staff is in my school! This week people began getting "Boo-ed!" This involves getting surprise treats at some point. You in turn get treats for someone else. I got Boo-ed today and it involved chocolate! Just what I needed!

My Team - I know I mention my team from time to time. Basically, I could include them every week! They are awesome! We are all having a rough year with this group of third graders. It's nice having a group to vent to that can understand, offer helpful feedback, and even take tough students off your hands for a little while!

How was your week?
What was good and bad for you?
