Weekly Recap - The Good and the Bad

Confessions of a Frazzled Teacher

This was the first full week that we have had in a while. It was strange to actually have to work everday! I got spoiled with all the bad weather days!

Confessions of a Frazzled Teacher

Waterfall - Yesterday I walked into my room to the sound of rushing water behind the walls. Thankfully nothing was leaking. I called maintenance. They said that it was probably the hot water pipes filling for the heater, the heater that has never worked in my 12 years in this classroom! The sound has continued today. I'm paranoid that eventually my room will flood (although being on the second floor may have an advantage) or the walls will fill with mold. Either way, not a good thing.

Strange Musings - It has been awhile since I have shared the strange sentences that have come from my students. Here are some favorites from just this week.

     Student: "I don't know."
     Me: "What don't you know?"
     Student - "I don't know what I don't know. I don't know. I don't know."

     Student: "I'm cyclops."
Me: (Wondering why this child thinks he is cyclops. Eventually I figure it out after him stating this throughout the day.) "Oh, psychic!"
     Student: "Yep, I'm cyclops."

Student: "Can I run into the wall?"

Student 1: "I want to be a crack head."
Student 2: "That's not appropriate!" (This was my cyclops child. Don't worry, I dealt with Student 1 privately.)

Confessions of a Frazzled Teacher

Challenging Child - My most challenging child had a phenomenal week! He kept his temper in check, even when he was upset. This is HUGE for him. He also thought about actions ahead of time, like asking to sit somewhere else away from students he would get into trouble with. I was so excited to make a good phone call home.

Prismatic Assembly - We had a laser light show for Black History Month. It was incredible. It definitely captured the students' (and my) interest.

Overall, it was a great week, probably our best all year. Maybe they are finally maturing (at least some of them)!
