Weekly Recap - The Good and the Bad

Confessions of a Frazzled Teacher

Well, this week was an odd one. I don't even know where to begin. While I can't necessarily include everything crazy detail...especially from today, I will share some highlights Good and Bad!

Confessions of a Frazzled Teacher

Last Minute Meeting - Yesterday my principal called up to my room in the morning asking me to attend a 40 minute meeting at some point (he was not sure of the time) in the day. He would send an aide in to watch my students. About 30 minutes before the meeting, he finally told me the time. I was on prep so I hunted down the aide to let her know what was happening. While the meeting was hopefully productive (I won't know until next school year since it was about upcoming initiatives.), I felt extremely guilty when the 40 minutes lasted over 2 hours! Needless to say, the aide and my students were not pleased.

Investigation - This is the one in which I can't reveal too many details. Let's just say that it involved me calling the dean to come to my room to speak in person. When I told him the issue, he said he would be back with the principal. Overall, this issue turned out not to be as bad as originally thought but it made for an interesting day.

Parental Contact - I had a couple of really great talks with parents this week. It feels good when parents support you AND actually follow through with improving their child's behavior!

Staff Morale Bingo - Last weekend I thought hard about how I can work with our staff morale. This week, I passed out Staff Morale Bingo Cards. It has been so much fun playing! I'm excited to be the recipient of one of the activities, a teacher buddy copied materials for a lesson. I can't wait to use it next week!
