Miraculous Technology Tool for Teachers

Miraculous Technology Tool for Teachers

I am always looking for ways to get myself more organized in my classroom. While my room is definitely looking much better after taking a whole year of organizing different physical areas, there was still one big area for me to tackle - TECHNOLOGY!

The Problem...

Some people have a list of go to websites for teaching different areas. For me, I reorganized by Bookmark Bar and got them pretty well organized. (Although if this is your problem, the solution will help you too!)

My real issue is that I love using YouTube videos in my classroom. Have you ever noticed the ads? They always seem the most inappropriate when you are trying to pull up a last minute video in front of your students! Sure there are alternatives to this in the form of programs life Safe Share, but that is a two-step process, not too great for last minute needs. Since most of the time, I have set videos to show, I wanted someplace to store them too.

The Solution...

My problem was completely solved with Symbaloo! In Symbaloo, you can create different lists and link your favorite videos from YouTube. Now I can show videos in the Symbaloo platform and not have ANY ads shown. Plus, the videos are all saved year after year! This is a HUGE saver for me.

Side note: You can also use Symbaloo to save all of the websites you use!

Tell Me More!

You can embed the videos into Symbaloo so when you show them in class, you get the video itself, not the ads. Talk about a game changer! I went a little crazy creating some lists for myself. I have a list for Kid President Videos, Schoolhouse Rocks, stories from our reading series, etc. Throughout the school year, I have added seasonal videos onto a new list. Now they are ready to go in the future.

Bonus: Having these videos ready also helps for those extra five minutes that seem to happen from time to time.

How Do You Use Symbaloo?

My favorite part of Symbaloo is that it is FREE! That's my favorite price! You might be saying that sounds great but too complicated to use. Let me help you with that. I made a video (my first ever) that has step-by-step instructions on how to upload a video from YouTube and embed it onto Symbaloo. All you need to do is sign up for a free account. Then watch my video to see how to do this. I hope this helps you get organized!
