Earth Day is coming up! It's on April 22nd. With that in mind, I like to read books and do activities focusing on the environment. There are so many great books that I read throughout the week.
While the book, What If Everybody Did That?, is not specifically an Earth Day book, I like it because it poses thought provoking questions to students in a way that is easy for them to understand. It helps change their mind about thinking that it's okay to leave a piece of garbage on the floor since it's only one piece.
This book also delves into other topics like if everybody talked during story time or everyone decided not to wash up. In short, this book just brings up a lot of interesting topics for students to think about while starting off the conversation about Earth Day.
Here are some other great books of Earth Day books:
These books focus more on taking care of the Earth in different ways. I enjoy Fancy Nancy books because of the use of high level vocabulary words explained in an easy to understand manner. The Lorax is one I save from Dr. Seuss' birthday to read just for Earth Day! The last one, Earth Day - Hooray, incorporates a lot of math into the story. I like books that can be used in other subjects!
